I can safely say that I'm 1/3rd the way done with my part of a graphic novel. Which is causing me to ponder what I'll pursue once the following 2/3rds are done. I have a couple options here, putting Pictures of a Tragedy in motion finally or a different project by another publisher. Preferably, I'd work on PoaT under the wing of a friend's company and then the other project also written by this same friend.
But... Still I have other dreams of illustration work. I would never want to draw Batman or the X-Men or any other 'big 2' book professionally. That may sound idiotic to some, but honestly I'd rather read those books than draw them. I have no interest in drawing big action sequences or space battles involving men in capes.
Currently, largely thanks to that damn spooky bastard ~SPOOKYCO, I have this horrible desire to pursue panel to panel art duties on Hack/Slash at some point in the future. Now, I fully understand that this next statement makes me sound like a pretentious douche bag, but I've never been impressed by the long running artist on the series Emily Stone. She's a fine artist, but I just never felt that she was a good match for the subject matter. She's no longer on the book and I'm hoping that they get someone who can bring it up a notch, or 10. I want the line art to be clean but messy. Yup, it's an oxymoron but hopefully you get what I mean. If a book isn't going to be inked, the pencils need to be precise and confident. At least digitally cleaned up. Too many books, mostly in the independent companies, are going straight from pencil to color with little to no real work in making the pencils look good.
I'm not saying they should hire me because I'm so much awesomer than any other artist. Perhaps I like the idea of getting paid to draw a cute, borderline goth girl like Cassie Hack. The point is, that's the kind of book I'd like to work on as far as monthly titles goes. Dirty, horrific, sexy and altogether dripping with homage for the kind of films I love to watch.
Maybe I'll at least do a fan art of Cassie and Vlad. Perhaps. perhaps. perhaps.
I need to get back to cleaning up those pages I mentioned earlier.
Be well, enjoy the rest of the weekend and for the love of all you hold sacred, please stop by ebay and search for My Dying Rose and buy a shirt or two. Seriously, the first nineteen people to buy a shirt get a free set of six 11x17 art prints. Who doesn't like free stuff?
Love and Kisses,
Jay Double You

It's really awesome!
